The Mercy golf team played two matches this week. On Wednesday April 30, 08 Mercy hosted Canton and Farmington. The score was Farmington 217, Canton 222 and Mercy 242. Individual scores for Mercy were Kristen Valentine 62, Ally Morales 78, Kaitlyn Guptill 53, Katie Mischke 62 and Kathryn Satagaj 63. On Thursday May 1, 08 Mercy visited Cheshire High at the Country Club of Southington. The score was Cheshire 191 and Mercy 225. Individual scores were Kaitlyn Guptill 53, Ally Morlaes 57, Katie Mischke 63, Kathryn Satagaj 52 and Jaelyn Kateches 64. The record stands at 4-4. The team must began to lower their scores to be competitive in future matches.

SPRING VACATION WEEK

The Mercy golf team had the following week off. Practice was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday at Lyman's golf course. Matches will resume on Monday April 28, 08 at home against Canton, Farmington and Masuk. On Thursday May 1st Mercy will be at Southington C.C. to play Cheshire High in a league match. The matches in the month of May will determine if Mercy will qualify for the league tournament and the state tournament. The team must lower their scores to accomplish both goals.

Week Two - Mercy Golf

The Mercy golf team played two matches this week. The first was at Lyman's G.C. against Danbury on Wednesday April6,08. The score was Danbury 219 and Mercy 238. Mercy scores were:Kristen Valentine 58, Ally morales 59, Kaitlyn Guptil 66, Katie Mischke 67 and Claire Crouch 55.

On Thursday the team played in Newington against Newington 194 and Manchester 245. Mercy scoring was 232. One Match was won and one lost. Scoring for Mercy - Kristen Valentine 52, Ally Morales 63, Kaitlyn Guptill 54,Claire Crouch 63.
Mercy is off nextweek. There will be practice on Tuesday April 22 and on Wednesday April 23. See you there.

Mercy Golf Season Opens

The Mercy golf season opened on Monday 4/7/08 at Indian Springs G.C. against H-K. Mercy - 241 - H-K - 304. Medalists was Kristen Valentine for Mercy with a 56. The other scores were;
Kaitlyn Guptill - 65 - Kaite Mischke - 63 - Margaret Allison - 70 and Ally Morales - 57. On Tuesday 4/8/08 Mercy played at Lyman's against Avon. Mercy 234 - Avon - 236. The medalist for Mercy were Kristen Valentine and Claire Crouch with 58's. Other scores were Margaret Allison 71 - Ally Morales - 59 and Katie Mischke - 59. The final match of the week was at Airways G.C. against Suffield High on 4/10/08 - Mercy 197 - Suffield - 238. The Medalist for the match was Kristen Valentine with a 45. Other scores were Kaitlyn Guptill - 48 - Ally Morales 51 - Kaite Mischke - 53 and Claire Crouch - 58.

The team improved each match. The short game of all the players needs to be worked on next week before Mercy plays Danbury at Lyman's. Next week matches are against teams that have more experience and provide a greater challenge. The question is can Mercy improve to meet the challenge.

First Practice Week

The first practice week was limited to 2 days due to inclement weather. The team did practice at Lyman's on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday 10 girls played a practice round in 20 to 30 mph of wind and a temperature of 45 degrees. The conditions were difficult but all completed the 9 hole round. On Thursday practice focused on pitching, sand shots and putting. The team completed practice at the range. The first match is on April 7, 08 at Indian Springs G.C. against H-K. Those girls playing are: Kristen Valentine, Kaitlyn Guptill, Katie Mischke, Margaret Allison and Ally Morales. Other matches next week are home on Tuesday against Avon and away on Thursday against Suffield.
