On May 19th Mercy played Suffield High School at Copper Hill. Mercy scored 210 and Suffield had 214. Ashley Blackham had a 44. The other Mercy scores were Amanda Pacheco 52, Gwen Maurice 58, Jenny Bentley 56 and Emily Fritsch 61.
On May 25th Mercy Played Avon and Canton at Lyman's G.C. Mercy scored 220, Avon 206 and Canton 221. The May 24th match was rained out on that date and was made up at the league tournament on June 1st at Woodbridge C.C. Mercy scored 196 and Avon 195. This completed the season for Mercy. The final record was 10-6. The team finished 3rd in the season standing.
The league tournament was played at Woodbridge C.C. Mercy finished second with a team score of 394 six strokes behind Avon. Ashley Blackham made all league first team and Amanda Pacheco made second team all League. Gwen Maurice received honorable mention for the Tigers.
The Mercy Tigers qualified for the State Tournament at Orange Hills C.C. The team was the 15th ranked team in the state and finished 14th in the field of 15 teams.
Mercy had a very successful 2011 season. Next years co-captains are Amanda Pacheco and Gwen Maurice. These two golfers can lead Mercy to another successful year. As a coach I am looking foward to the 2012 season with excitement and confidence that it will be an enjoyable one. See you in the spring. Coach Peter Golanski
